Joshua Jackson is all set to return to television with a Ryan Murphy series on ABC. The ABC network has given the order for ‘Dr. Odyssey,’ starring Joshua Jackson, who is also the executive producer of the show.
Slated for a fall launch, the show is written by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken. It is being produced by Disney’s 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television. Interestingly, it will be the first broadcast by Murphy’s production company in four years. The last show by the banner was ‘911: Lone Star,’ which came out on Fox in early 2020.
Further details on the plot remain undisclosed; however, reports suggest that Jackson will play the titular role of ‘Dr. Odyssey.’ The doctor would be able to get everything he wants due to his charming personality.
Meanwhile, the details of the other cast members remain secret, but reports suggest that the show will take place on a cruise ship.
Murphy had signed a deal with Netflix in 2018. Some of his credits are still on the air, including ‘911,’ which debuted on ABC recently after being moved from Fox, and FX’s ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘Feud.’
Further, his co-writers Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken have collaborated with Murphy on some projects in the past, such as ‘Feud: Capote vs. the Swans.’ Besides, they are also working together on ‘Grotesquerie’ and Murphy’s Kim Kardashian-starrer legal drama on Hulu.
Interestingly, Jackson was featured in the Paramount+ series titled ‘Fatal Attraction’ in 2023. He also appeared in Peacock Network’s ‘Dr. Death’ and played the role of American neurosurgeon Christopher Duntsch. The docudrama was inspired by the podcast of the same name.
Other notable TV works by Joshua Jackson include ‘Fringe,’ ‘The Affair,’ and ‘Dawson’s Creek.’ Jackson has also been cast in Sony’s reboot of ‘The Karate Kid,’ alongside Jackie Chan, which will be released later this year.
