Danny Masterson’s wife, Bijou Phillips, has filed for divorce. The couple got married in 2011 and share one daughter. The cause, as the court documents cite, is “irreconcilable differences.”
This news comes two weeks after Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison after being found guilty on two counts of forcible rape. Masterson had initially faced up to 45 years in prison for three counts of rape by force or fear. The jury was deadlocked on the third count.
The actor’s second trial concluded in a conviction after the first trial ended in a mistrial in November of the previous year. In court sketches, Masterson was seen blowing a kiss to Bijou Phillips before being led away after the sentencing.
While Phillips was reportedly “distraught” over her husband’s conviction, she had initially expressed no plans to leave him, according to sources. The couple has been together for 19 years, and they welcomed their daughter, Fianna, in 2014. In character reference letters submitted to the court, Phillips described Masterson as an “extraordinary husband” and “devoted father.”

“Our daughter and I are heartbroken that he is not home with us,” Phillips wrote in the letter. She emphasized the positive role Masterson played in their family life and noted that their daughter was their “miracle child.”
In response to the sentencing, the Church of Scientology, of which both Masterson and Phillips are members, reiterated its stance that introducing religion into Masterson’s trial violated First Amendment rights. The Church has consistently denied any allegations of harassment of accusers or discouraging members from reporting criminal conduct to law enforcement.
As the legal proceedings continue, the divorce filing marks a new chapter in the lives of Danny Masterson and Bijou Phillips, who have been at the center of a high-profile case that has garnered significant attention from the public and media.
