American comedian and host Bill Maher, who is famous for the political talk show Real Time with Bill Maher, has come in defense of Woody Allen. In his podcast, Maher shared that he thinks Allen is innocent and has not committed the crime that he is accused of. Notably, Woody Allen was accused in 1992 of assaulting his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was seven years old.
In a recent podcast episode, Bill Maher discusses sensitive topics such as the #MeToo movement, cancel culture, and predators in the media. The American comedian also discussed Woody Allen with Katie Couric in his podcast, known as Club Random with Bill Maher.
Woody Allen, a four-time Academy Award winner, was accused by his adopted daughter of sexual assault. Maher believes that he is innocent and has not committed any such crime.
I don’t think he committed that crime,
Maher said, talking about the allegations made by Dylan Farrow.
There was two police investigations that exonerated him,
Bill added.
Notably, Maher believes that Allen did not assault seven-year-old Dylan in 1992. Instead, he is convinced that it was Allen’s ex-girlfriend and Dylan’s mom, Mia Farrow, who taught her to make these statements. He argued that Farrow must have forced Dylan to say that Allen inappropriately touched her amid a custody battle at that time.

Just a few months before these allegations came, Mia Farrow had found out about Allen’s affair with one of her adopted daughters, Soon-Yi Previn. At that time, Allen was 57, while Previn was just a 21-year-old college freshman.
Maher said in the podcast.
I just flat out believe him,
I believe a 57-year-old man didn’t suddenly become a child molester in the middle of …. a custody battle in a house full of adults in broad daylight.
Bill is convinced that his theory is right, as Dylan Farrow claimed that Allen assaulted her during a court-sanctioned visit during the custody battle. In addition, Allen came to meet her and her brother Ronan Farrow at Mia’s home.
Dylan recalled the incident in ‘Allen v. Farrow,’ a 2021 HBO documentary. She said that Woody Allen told her to lie down and play with her brother Ronan Farrow’s toy train set.
She added,
And as I played with the toy train, I was sexually assaulted.
