Extremely OK Games and Maddy Make Games are all set to release a Celeste spinoff. Notably, Celeste marked its sixth anniversary last week, and this free 3D spinoff is out to celebrate this occasion. Celeste came out on January 26, 2018, and became an instant hit following the launch. It received praise from critics and gamers, and while the Extremely OK Games team is currently developing another game, they still created this spinoff as a celebration.

Released on January 29, Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain is a free 3D game that was developed within two weeks. Celeste is considered one of the best platformer games till now, and this spinoff enables fans to relive the same journey all over again. Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain allows users to take control of Madeline, the game’s protagonist, as she attempts to climb Mount Celeste. It is similar to the original game, but with an extra dimension. Moreover, she can jump and climb to reach the top while simultaneously avoiding all the spikes, along with many other obstacles. Those who have already played Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain in this short time have found it an enjoyable game.
As of now, this Celeste spinoff is only available on PC and Linux; however, Extremely OK Games will soon release the MacOS version too. But it is evident that the developers’ team has put in a lot of effort for this game. The game has an original soundtrack of its own that was created by Lena Raine, who has also produced many other themes, including those from Minecraft. Notably, this is not the first time that the developers have done something like this related to Celeste. They also released Celeste Classic 2 in 2021 to celebrate the game’s third anniversary. Meanwhile, Celeste is not going to have a sequel, as Extremely OK Games co-founder Madeline Thorson had earlier expressed her disinterest in the same.
