The more productive your business becomes, the more chance there is for expansion and growth, and as every smart manager or business owner knows, such goals are essential for longevity and profitability.

So, with that being said, here are four key changes to make to your company for heightened levels of productivity.

    1. Discourage Multitasking

First and foremost, for both yourself and every single other member of staff working for the company, you should encourage them to focus on one task at a time and to methodically tick off a completed task as they go.

In theory, multitasking sounds like a great way of achieving more and ultimately becoming more productive, but in reality, it has been proven time and time again to have the opposite effect. Always pay attention to which type of task you are delegating to which employee, and try to keep expectations and targets realistic.

    2. Offer a More Comprehensive Healthcare Plan

In terms of motivating your employees to not only be as productive and efficient as possible in their working day but also to create a general culture of energy and dedication, it is necessary to review the benefits and perks your company offers and, more specifically, your current healthcare provider.

Medicaid rewards are some of the most impressive in terms of enticing new talent to your business and also in the context of affordability for employers, and, therefore, are certainly worth investigating further.

    3. Minimize the Number of Unnecessary Activities

The third most effective change to make to how your business is run on a day-to-day basis is to take an objective look at just how much of the working day is taken up by essentially pointless and utterly time-wasting activities.

Time-wasting is the enemy of productivity, so, with this in mind, take a look at the following common issues and how to overcome them:

    • Prevent employees from procrastinating over a certain task by setting clear and unwavering deadlines and holding them accountable
    • Make it a requirement for every worker’s desk, including your own, to be well-organized and clear of obstructions
    • Ban the use of social media platforms except during lunch and afternoon breaks
    • Only hold a meeting, whether company-wide or interdepartmental, when there is an actual purpose other than discussions

    4. Focus on Individual Employee Growth

Finally, you are much more likely to receive the best work from your team if they are not only dedicated to the company but also motivated to further their own pool of knowledge and breadth of experience.

No matter the industry, and regardless of the length of time an individual has been working for your company or what it is their job role actually entails, the fact of the matter is that employee burnout is becoming more and more of an issue as time goes on.

This is why, in addition to focusing on their progression within the company, you should also be sure to check in on their emotional health and well-being during regular one-to-one meetings.
