David Choe was born on April 21, 1976 (age 49 years; as of 2026) in Los Angeles, California, United States. While spending his childhood in Koreatown, Los Angeles, he learned to draw images from Star Wars, G.I. Joe, and Robotech, among others. After a troubled childhood, David Choe practised shoplifting and stealing bikes from others. David, when he was sixteen, participated in the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Meanwhile, following the riot, he dropped out of high school and spent two years hitchhiking and stealing, while migrating across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
When he was 21, he decided to return to Los Angeles and pursue training in the arts. Later, he enrolled at the art school that accepted him, the California College of Arts & Crafts, Oakland; nevertheless, he dropped out after two years.

Revealed Sexual Assault
In one of the episodes of Choe’s podcast, DVDASA, he recalled getting a massage from a biracial Black woman and how it turned into an assault. He kept on narrating, “I just started jerking off. So then her hands get off my leg, and she just stops … I go ‘Look, I’m sorry I can’t help myself — can you just pretend like I’m not doing this and you continue with the massage?’ And she’s like ‘All right’, and she does … I’m like ‘Can I touch your butt?’ and I reach out and touch her, and she pulls away.”
Nevertheless, soon after, a well-known artist opposed the episode. However, later, David Choe responded to the statement that it was a false story and was trying to “provoke” his friends.
