RuPaul’s Drag Race star Shangela is yet again accused of multiple sexual assaults, just a few days after a previous lawsuit was dismissed against him.
The former We’re Here host, legally known as Darijus Jeremy ‘DJ’ Pierce, is accused of assaulting five people. The complainants state that they were too drunk and were in no state to give consent, as reported by Rolling Stone.
DJ Pierce, the man behind Shangela, made them intoxicated out of their capacity, due to which they could not give consent. Earlier, Daniel McGarrigle, a production assistant at HBO, accused Pierce of raping him and filed a lawsuit against him in Los Angeles Superior Court.
McGarrigle said that the RuPaul’s Drag Race alum had drugged and then raped him after a wrap party in 2020. However, Pierce has completely denied these allegations citing it “has no basis in fact or in law.” Recently, the case was settled in mediation.
Similarly, five men have alleged the assaults happened in Louisiana, Texas, California, and the U.K. between 2012 and 2018. All the accusers ranged between the ages of 18 and 23 at the time of the assault. Pierce, who goes by she/her in drag and he/him elsewhere, drank with these men. Some of them remember waking up on his bed in an unconscious state. Meanwhile, they also think a third man was present in the room.
Pierce has admitted meeting four of the five accusers on the said dates, while he does not remember the fifth one. Further, his attorney, Andrew Brettler, told Rolling Stone that all these claims were false. Brettler stated that the accusers neither have evidence nor any testimony and that Pierce has never had “nonconsensual sex of any kind with them, or anyone else.”
