'Dumb Money' to be Released on Netflix US in January 2024.

One of the biggest Netflix projects in 2023, Dumb Money, will be available for streaming in the United States and India on January 21, 2024.

Dumb Money is directed by Craig Gillespie and revolves around the story of Keith Gill, a man who noticed the decline of GameStop’s stock during the COVID-19 pandemic and shared his thoughts in a live stream on YouTube and posted on the subreddit r/WallStreetBets. He openly shared his stock strategies and his belief that GameStop was undervalued. Initially, Gill bought $53,000 worth of GameStop’s stock at $5 per share. Soon, many of his viewers and followers started buying that stock, which increased its value rapidly, and the stock price reached $483 in January 2021.

Reportedly, Keith Gill made a profit of $9 million in two days, for a total profit of $48 million from the stock. The movie features Paul Deno, Pete Davidson, Vincent D’Onofrio, America Ferrera, Nick Offerman, Anthony Ramos, Sebastian Stan, Shailene Woodley, and Seth Rogen. It was released in theatres on September 15, 2023.

Notably, Netflix has a contract with Sony’s first window for all titles in 2023. The Sony movies are released on Netflix US and are available there for 18 months. It generally takes around 120 days for the movie to be released on Netflix after it is released in theatres. However, this duration is not always fixed.

Netflix India also releases movies just like the US and other Asian countries, and European countries like Germany and the Netherlands get them a few months later. The new Sony movies are released very late in the United Kingdom, and Dumb Money is expected to be available in 2025. Additionally, Canada and Latin America will have to wait for around three years after the theatrical release, which means that they will be able to see it in 2026.
