The Day Before officially shuts down its servers after being surrounded by many controversies. This zombie survival game had a controversial launch along with many negative reviews. Critics accused it of false advertising and scamming the players. However, reportedly, the CEOs are already working on developing a new game. The old version is completely unplayable, and they are trying to create an unofficial offline version for it. Interested players will get access to the game this way.
This game, worth $40, was launched on December 7, 2023. On December 11, the game developer Fntastic posted on X, “Today we announce the closure of Fntastic Studio. Unfortunately, The Day Before has failed financially, and we lack the funds to continue. All income received is being used to pay off debts to our partners.” Later, on January 22, the game publisher, Mytona, officially shut down the game’s servers.

After receiving negative reviews, Mytona apologized to the customers and said that any player who requested a refund would automatically be given one. Mytona announced in a statement, “We are sorry for the fact that the game didn’t meet the expectations of the majority of the players. Today we will work with Steam to open up refunds for any players who choose to make a refund. We’re in contact with Fntastic regarding the future of the game.” However, now their website does not mention The Day Before in the game titles at all.
The Day Before was one of the most wishlisted titles on Steam in 2023. The developers’ team encouraged volunteers to contribute to the project’s development to get benefits such as free codes and participation certificates. People accused them of using unpaid volunteers instead of paid developers. Moreover, they allegedly plagiarized the trailers from highly popular games like Call of Duty and The Last of Us.
