Margot Robbie To Produce “The Sims” Film Adaptation?

The real-life Barbie, Margot Robbie, is all set to try her hand as a producer with her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, as per THR.

This adaptation of one of the biggest computer game franchises, “The Sims,” will be directed by Kate Herron, the renowned director of the Disney+ series “Loki,” who will co-write the feature film with Briony Redman.

LuckyChap Entertainment is run by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerly, Josey McNamara, and Sophia Kerr. The company is still not over the success of its 2023 production, Barbie, and will be joined by Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment in the upcoming movie’s production.

The original game’s publisher, Entertainment Arts, will also join the group for creative purposes.

The Sims is one of the best-selling games ever, with the franchise having sold more than 200 million copies worldwide. It has expanded significantly with new additions and updates.

It is a social life simulation game that does not have a fixed storyline; instead, it provides players with the option to create their own scenarios. The game is open-ended and has an unlimited number of possible scenarios, encompassing a changeable personality, skills, and relationships.

It has a suburban setting where the players control virtual people in their daily lives and their tiniest tasks, like preparing dinner or decorating a house.

With numerous sequels and expansions, the game now has unlimited themes, such as vacations, dating, and high school life. Not only this, but it also includes magic and vampires.

On an interesting note, you might find a resemblance between Barbie and The Sims. Sims has no fixed plot or characters, and the lives of characters can be controlled in endless ways by the players. Likewise, Barbie is also a toy—a doll—with no narrative and unlimited career options.
