The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Blade movie seems to be taking forever to get into production. It would not be wrong to assume that the reboot of Blade is back at square one. For the second time, the film has lost its director.

Interestingly, the reboot was announced five years ago, way back in 2019. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige presented Mahershala Ali to the audience as the actor and gave him a Blade cap. After Ali’s surprise appearance, the film has been handed over to two directors, with the first director, Bassam Tariq, leaving the project in September 2022.

His exit delayed production, which was originally scheduled to begin in the fall of 2022. Reports suggest that Ali himself chose Lovecraft Country director Yann Demange to continue with the film. Moreover, the industry-wide SAG-AFTRA strikes were another reason for the delay in production.

The Wrap has confirmed in an exclusive report that Demange’s exit “was entirely amicable.”

Marvel’s most important screenwriter, Eric Pearson, is currently working on the ‘Blade’ script. Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Green wrote previous drafts for the same.

Also, Mahershala Ali remains linked with the project to play the role of a half-human vampire hunter.

Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed, insiders have said that the right production of ‘Blade’ is more important than releasing it hastily. Also, Marvel Studios is in no hurry to release it just now, since its plan is to release two movies in one year.

Its next four movies are either done with production or about to be completed. They are “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts,” and “Fantastic Four.”

During the studio’s early days, the Blade movies were extremely important to it. Thus, the production team now has the responsibility to create a movie like no one has ever seen before.
