Meghan Markle Opens Up Having Suicidal Thoughts

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess are working to make the Internet world a better place. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were featured in the interview, which aired on August 4 on CBS Sunday Morning. The pre-recorded segment, which aired on Meghan’s 43rd birthday, explained a program named The Parents Network through Archewell’s foundation for supporting parents whose children have been impacted by social media use. After a two-year pilot program, the initiative is now available across the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada region.

In the interview, Paul interviewed Meghan about their decision to open up about her thoughts of self-harm. In March 2021, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about having suicidal thoughts at the Oprah Winfrey event, stating that she had previous thoughts of self-harm. Meghan has previously spoken about bullying and harassment she was receiving from social media. She said that she recognised the thorough line in the middle of the children affected by harassment on social media.

She said, “When you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing journey — certainly part of mine — is being able to be open about it. I scraped the surface of my experience, but I do think that I would never want someone else to feel that way and I would never want someone else to be making those sorts of plans and I would never want someone else to not be believed.

The Duchess of Sussex added, “If me voicing what I have overcome will save someone or encourage someone in their life to really, genuinely check in on them and not assume that the appearance is good so everything is OK, then that’s worth it. I’ll take a hit for that.”

The campaign, No Child Lost to Social Media by the parent’s network, adds depth to their non-profit work of providing a security network for parents coping with the grief of children having mental health conditions, eventually resulting in several health conditions.
