Netflix's '3 Body Problem' Trailer Out, to be Released on March 21

The ‘Three-Body Problem’ is a novel written by the Chinese sci-fi author Liu Cixin. It is the first part of the Remembrance of Earth trilogy. The book was declared the best Chinese sci-fi book in the last two decades when it was released in 2008. The author also received China’s most prestigious award, the Galaxy Award. Netflix is all set to release the novel’s adaptation, co-produced by the brains behind ‘Game of Thrones’, DB Weiss and David Benioff, and ‘True Blood’ alum Alexander Woo.

Netflix has released the trailer for 3 Body Problems at CES 2024, in Las Vegas. The series will be out on Netflix on March 21. The 2-minute and 36-second trailer shows that an important decision taken by a woman created chaos in time and space in the 1960s, which led five scientists to collaborate and work together to save humanity. The series features John Bradley as Jack Rooney, Eiza Gonzalez as Auggie Salazar, Alex Sharp as Will Downing, Jovan Adepo as Saul Durand, and Jess Hongs as Jin Heng. These five characters are members of the Oxford Science Group. It also has Benedict Wong as Da Shi, an officer investigating the deaths of scientists.

Alexander Woo said, “What we are hoping to do is to convey the experience—if not necessarily the exact details—of the novel onto the screen.” He added, “What stayed, we hope, is the sense of wonderment and the sense of scope, of scale, where the problems are no longer just the problems of an individual or even a nation, but of an entire species.” For the first time, Netflix has also provided a guide to help viewers understand which actor is playing which role. This will be the first Weiss and Benioff creation since Game of Thrones ended in 2019 after running for eight seasons.
