Nvidia shared a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming RTX remaster, Half-Life 2 RTX, during the ongoing CES 2024 event. They officially announced Half-Life 2 RTX in August 2023 at Gamescom and confirmed that the Half-Life 2 community members were collaborating to give the first-person shooter of the RTX a remaster of Valve.
Half-Life 2 RTX uses many advanced Nvidia technologies to offer GeForce RTX users a gaming experience specifically designed for them. The technologies that are used include Nvidia DLSS, Nvidia Reflex, and RTX IO. The developers’ team also depends on RTX Remix to help them improve the visuals for games with the help of AI tools and rapidly use RTX with DLSS.
The latest trailer reveals how the remaster handles Ravenholm, the most frightening location in the game. The creepy atmosphere of the location was made more lifelike by using more realistic lights and shadow effects in the streets and buildings in the show. The trailer also gave an insight into the Half-Life 2 RTX gameplay and featured Gordon Freeman fighting zombies. The trailer has no fixed release window as of now, as it is still in its early development stage.

Besides the trailer, Nvidia also stated that the RTX remix will be available to everyone in open beta starting January 22. Earlier, it was available to only a small group of users with early access. The company stated, “With NVIDIA RTX Remix, we’re enabling modders to remaster their favorite classic games with full ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS, NVIDIA Reflex, modern physically-based rendering (PBR) assets, and generative AI texture tools—one of many generative AI announcements made at CES.”
During CES 2024, Nvidia also revealed their new graphic card series called the Geforce RTX 40 Super Series. It has three models, namely, GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER.
