Outer Banks, a young adult drama first premiered on Netflix in April 2020. Follow a group of Pogue teenagers’ adventurous journey as they embark on an exhilarating hunt for treasure over three seasons.
When did Netflix Renew Outer Banks for Season 4?
Netflix announced the renewal of Outer Banks on February 23rd. It was before the launch of the show’s third season.
On February 18th, Poguelander: An Outer Banks Experience was held as a live event. There, the cast of this show revealed details about their upcoming fourth season. Lil Baby, Khalid, alt-J, and Elley Duhé all gave brilliant performances to make it an evening to truly remember.
Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke officially confirmed to remain in their positions as showrunners, co-creators, and executive producers.
They said in a statement, “Seeing Poguelandia come to life was nothing short of spectacular. The Pogues are enjoying an adventure of a lifetime, and we now get to map out more twists and turns as the joyride continues into season four of Outer Banks. Thank you to Netflix, our cast, and the amazing fans who helped to make this happen.”
When talking about the show’s renewal, Netflix discussed its strong performance, stating, “The hit series held the #1 spot globally in Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list for the 4 weeks following its Season 2 launch on July 30, 2021 and in the Top 10 for 6 weeks; it reached the Top 10 in 74 countries.”
Early Netflix renewals are rarely seen. Netflix saves them for their most popular series that they can depend on to be successful in the future. On the contrary, most shows must hit defined metrics in a specified timeframe to be eligible for renewal.
Netflix has already granted early renewals for some of their most popular shows; Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Virgin River.
In their renewal, Netflix stated, “Season 4 details and additional information will be shared at a later time.”
