Marvel Update: Russo Bros in Early Talks To Direct Next ‘Avenger’ Movies

The American producer, director, and screenwriter duo, Anthony Russo and Johnny Russo are in early talks to direct the Marvel “Avengers” two movies, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Formerly, the production company initiated a high-stakes search for filmmakers to overlook the fifth and sixth Avengers films; while it was time-consuming, the searches are now ending. Several names, including Deadpool & Wolverine director, Shawn Levy, also came into the connection.

The hiring also features a reappearance of the directors, Anthony Russo and Johnny Russo. Who has worked for prominent shows like Arrested Development and Community, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Meanwhile, they have also worked for Marvel films like Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame.

In the century, the brothers, Anthony Russo and Johnny Russo, became Hollywood’s strongest producers, with their entertainment company, AGBO. They have worked for blockbusters like Everything Everywhere All At Once, Citadel, and Extraction. As the directors, the brothers have worked for Marvel films, Cherry (2021), and The Gray Man (2022). He has also directed the sci-fi adventure, The Electric State.

Previously titled, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, starred Jonathan Majors. However, the director later cut. Marvel, currently, has given no words about the decision. Sources say that they can announce the same at the San Diego Comic-Con panel, which was held next Saturday.

Initially titled “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty”, the forthcoming sequel is slated to feature more than 60 characters, repeating the roles, and the list includes Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson. The actor, Jonathan Majors, was set to play the antagonist; however, he was dropped following the assault and abuse allegations.

The forthcoming film, Avengers 5, is set to release on May 21, 2026. Additionally, Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to make its premiere on May 7, 2027.
