During the 2024 Olympics, the real set of games, Squid Game, is set to premiere, and the release dates have been announced by Netflix. The release date of the series’ second season is Thursday, December 26, 2024.
The streaming giant announced the premiere dates for the highly anticipated season of the Korean drama series along with a teaser on July 31, 2024.
Along with the second-season announcement, Netflix stated that the series’s third and final season will debut in 2025.
Netflix took to X (Twitter) to announce the exciting news, and the caption says, ‘The real game begins. Squid Game Season 2 is coming on December 26. The Final Season is coming in 2025.‘

The social media announcement came with a video that features a minute-long clip, along with a close-up of a woman and men running on a crowded track.
While many are heard screaming, the camera is pointing to the frontman, who says, It’s been three years. Do you want to play a game?
A second season’s synopsis read, ‘Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport. Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway.‘
The synopsis added, ‘But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organization proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.‘

Besides a described synopsis, the series director, creator, and executive producer, Hwang Dong-hyuk, also provides a teaser paragraph in an open letter addressed to his fans.
He penned, ‘Seong Gi-hun, who vowed revenge at the end of Season 1, returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge? Front Man doesn’t seem to be an easy opponent this time either. The fierce clash between their two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.‘
His letter ended with assuring fans that, ‘we’ll do our best to make sure we bring you yet another thrill ride.‘
The first season of the series, Squid Game, is available to stream on the OTT giant, Netflix. Additionally, the series spin-off real-competition series, Squid Game: The Challenge, is also available on the same streaming platform.
