Erin Moriarty, who came into the limelight after featuring in Amazon Prime’s The Boys, has announced of quitting social media. The decision came after she faced some horrendous “cosmetic surgery addictions” accusations by former Fox News star, Megyn Kelly.
Megan Kelly aired a segment with The Daily Wire‘s Michael Knowles and in the January 17 episode, she was seen addressing plastic surgery as a “social illness.” Subsequently, in the same episode, Kelly took Erin Moriarty as an example of someone with an addiction to cosmetic procedures. In the podcast, Kelly primarily featured a photograph of Moriarty which she stated was “relatively recent” and mentioned it as a “nice, beautiful, and natural gal”. In the same instance, she represented another photograph of Moriarty wherein she looked different.
About the same photograph comparison, Kelly, in the podcast, commented, “I thought, ‘is this an AI-generated face’… but apparently it’s real.”
Following acknowledgement of the accusations, Moriarty penned a two-slide lengthy Instagram post. She wrote, “We’re all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things. To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner — to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified.”
In the same series of Instagram posts, Erin Moriarty went on saying that she is “horrified” by Kelly’s reaction in the podcast, and called it a “primary example” of harassment that “broke her heart.”
Meanwhile, announcing her decision to take a permanent break from social media, Moriarty concluded, “Social media was my ability to connect with fans. My ability to work with but also mostly just share brands that I believe in on an independent level and otherwise. To share news or updates. But I’m deciding to invest my energy into my work.”
