Thomas William Selleck was born in the city of Detroit on January 29, 1945. When Tom was a kid, his family moved to Sherman Oaks, California. Tom graduated from high school in 1962 with three siblings. He attended Los Angeles Valley College before receiving a basketball scholarship to USC. In the following article, we’ll discuss Tom Selleck’s net worth, his career, and his success journey.

He switched from business administration to acting when a teacher suggested it. Selleck left college in his final year to pursue acting. He was also enlisted during the Vietnam War. Selleck joined the California National Guard from 1967 to 1973.

    His Career Background

Commercials dominated Tom Selleck’s early career. Coca-Cola, Revlon’s Chaz Cologne, Dubonnet, Right Guard Deodorant, and Close-Up toothpaste ads made him famous.

The “Marlboro Man” commercials were his most famous. Selleck gradually established himself in television and film. Selleck broke through in The Rockford Files after a few brief roles. In The Sacketts (1979), Tom Selleck played a cowboy like himself.

Selleck also appeared in Runaway and Three Men and a Baby while filming Magnum. After Magnum P.I., Tom Selleck became famous for Quigley Down Under, An Innocent Man, In & Out, and The Love Letter. His role in Friends marked a memorable comeback to television. Selleck played Monica’s ex-boyfriend.

For his work, he was nominated for an Emmy in 2000 for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. In 1998, Tom Selleck led Closer, a sitcom return. Low ratings canceled the series after ten episodes. After several Westerns and other films, Selleck found success in a series of made-for-TV films based on Robert B. Parker’s Jesse Stone. NBC’s Las Vegas, Selleck’s first significant TV role since Magnum P.I., was another success.

He joined Blue Bloods in 2010. The series’ Police Commissioner’ is Selleck. Boston Legal featured him. HBO’s Friends: The Reunion featured him in 2021. Selleck narrated Discovery+’s 2021 Out Where The West Begins. On Nicolas King’s Act One CD, Tom Selleck sang “Yessir, That’s My Baby” with him.

    Thomas Selleck’s Net Worth

Tom Selleck has established himself as one of television’s top performers and highest-paid professionals thanks to his roles in several successful films and ongoing shows.

Thomas Selleck’s net worth in 2026 is estimated at $20 million due to his continual, intermittent acting career and commercial representation. Magnum, P.I., the Jesse Stone films, The Closer, and B.L. Striker, as well as SilverFox and Crossfire Trail, were directed and co-produced by Tom Selleck.

    His Salary

Tom Selleck makes $200,000 each time he appears in an episode of Blue Bloods. In 1985, when he was on Magnum P.I., he earned $500,000 for each episode he was in.

If we consider inflation, the amount of money earned per episode would be around $1.2 million in today’s currency.

    Thomas Selleck Real Estate

Tom Selleck bought a Hawaii home in 1993 for an undisclosed amount. He sold the house in 2001 for $2.48 million after living there with his wife and children for many years. Selleck renovated the property creatively. After a long shoot, he and his Magnum P.I. co-stars watched the dailies in the cottage’s private theater.

A bank vault-door concrete “safe room” is on the property. Tom Selleck bought a 65-acre Ventura property for $5 million in 1988. Selleck farms on the ranch to “keep himself sane,” although the property is lavish.

There’s a heliport, tennis courts, pools, and a golf course with a practice green. Selleck bought an LA flat before buying his ranch. He and James Blakely III transformed a 1,800-square-foot condo into a rustic Edwardian country villa-like residence.
