The nominees for the 81st Golden Globes were revealed on 11th December 2023 and the number of nominations has been increased from five to six for each category. The Barbenheimer trend that was on everyone’s mind earlier continues to be shown in the award season as both Barbie and Oppenheimer have fetched many nominations in various categories. Margot Robbie starrer “Barbie” gained nine nominations, the most for any film, and “Oppenheimer,” with Cillian Murphy, scored eight nominations followed by “Killers of the flower moon” and poor things with seven nominations each.
Barbie’s nine nominations include Best Actress in a Musical or comedy, Best supporting actor, best Director, and three nominations only for the Best original song category while Oppenheimer’s nominations included best picture drama category and three nominations for Actor Cilian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr and Emily Blunt.
The Crown, The Bear, and Succession also received appreciation in the TV categories.
There were 27 people nominated for the first time like Ali Wong, Chris Rock, Steven Yeun, and Trevor Noah. Emma Stone has been nominated for acting awards in both TV and film categories this year.
Two new categories will be introduced this year – Cinematic And Box Office Achievement with eight nominations and Best Stand-Up Comedian on TV. The revelations don’tdon’t end here as Tylor Swift’s era’s Tours film also earned a nomination in the recently introduced Cinematic and Box Office category.
The list of nominees for the Golden Globes was announced on December 11 and The Golden Globes will be held on January 7 under a new name.
